This is the beginning of a story that I intend to finish. Whether or not this is the official beginning is yet to be determined. I may or may not use this. But, for now, I am content that this is the starting point of this particular story. I'll worry about reworking it later. I do believe it's a short story rather than a novel, but it's going to be chaptered, so...yeah.
Anyways, please read what I have so far, and don't hesitate to give me your thoughts. Criticism is not only welcome, but highly encouraged.
It is still untitled.

IT BEGINS -- An Introduction
"Karma's a Bitch"
Most people misunderstand the definition of Karma. In short, they believe that by doing good things, good things will happen to them. But this belief, sadly, is incorrect. I'm not saying you can't believe that philosophy; by all means, feel free. However the actual concept of Karma is that by doing good deeds and being a good person, your next life will be the better for it. It does not apply to one life, but to all your lives.
But, for the sake of the story I have to tell, I will simply say that Crow had strange, reversed Karma. She was not a bad person; on the contrary. But whenever she shared her toys as a child, her toy would break. Whenever she picked on her classmates she would find a penny under her desk. It didn't take long, only a couple of years, for Crow to realize that fate would reward her for committing petty crimes. And by being kind and generous, she was punished by Lady Luck. Any parent would agree that, by rewarding bad behavior, you raise a bad child. So it is no surprise that Crow grew up to be a spoiled, mean girl.
Crow grew up with an entirely different understanding of the phrase "Karma's a bitch."
No one ever described Crow Clements as empathetic. She was carefree, and she didn't give a shit about anyone. She had no remorse about the crimes she had taken part in. She knew she should could have the world at her finger tips if she pulled the right strings. It wasn't until a year after graduating high school that Crow began to wish she had different luck.
Mrs. Monty taught Biology at her county's community college, and she was unfortunate enough to have Crow enrolled in her eight o'clock class. Mrs. Monty was a simple woman, she had been married to the same man for seventeen years, and she had been teaching at the college for two decades. Every day was the same, and she was perfectly content with that. The day she meet Crow Clements was an interesting one, Crow was dressed in everything designer. Mrs. Monty never cared much for fashion, but there was one thing she did keep up with: shoes. The first thing the older woman noticed about her new student were the Jimmy Choo heels the teen had strapped to her feet. Other students wore flip flops or old Nike sneakers, Mrs. Monty wore a nice pair of red pumps that matched her dress suit. But Crow managed to make Mrs. Monty's feet embarrassed, the teacher only wished she could afford such nice shoes.
The moment Crow walked into the classroom her eyes picked out a seat in the back. Just as she was about to place her books on the desktop another girl came dangerously close to putting her bottom in the seat Crow had chosen. The conflict was resolved when Crow cleared her throat and slide her round behind into the chair. She offered a fake, apologetic look to the girl who stood now without a desk and then let out a giggle. She then went about organizing her books and binders. Then she sat and waited for whatever reward fate had in store for her.
