ONE; bits & pieces
These are just random little bits of writing that I've done, that haven't really gotten anywhere. I may integrate some of them into stories later; I don't really know.
I. The Desert Ferneaf walked through the hot sands, her bare feet blistered and red from the heat. She was barely able to put one foot in front of the other, and she stumbled often. A long white dress fell from her shoulders to her feet, and a flowing white veil covered her head. A hot desert wind blew at her back, but did little to relieve her of any heat. Ferneaf’s eyes had lost their previous light, and were now glazed over and empty. She tripped again, and this time, she did not try to get up. She began to feel her senses slowly dimming… her life waning… No! she thought in desperation. I mustn’t give up. If I don’t do this, who else can? The girl needed to use all the bodily strength she possessed to get back on two feet. She stayed standing for a little while, swaying side to side like a drunk. When she started to walk again, she let her steps fall into a steady rhythm: that of a song she had heard long ago from an old beggar. She let the sweet words of the tune play in her mind, giving her comfort and hope. I can do this. she told herself.
II. The Gates Atra could still hear the voices of the men at the inn, joyfully singing their drinking songs. She picked up speed, and ran through the city until she reached the tall and menacing gates. It being nighttime, they were closed. How could she be so stupid? She would never get away like this. If only there were some secret tunnel in the city that went under the gates. Her eyes wet with unshed tears, she wrapped her thin cloak tighter around her thin body, lay down by the wall, and slept.
III. Rain Rain poured down upon the village; it drummed along the rooftops; it flooded the gardens. No one was out in the deluge except for a young, tired looking girl of about nine years old. She stood in the middle of the cobbled street, staring out into the foggy night. Her hair hung down to her shoulders, heavy with rainwater. Her breath made a steady stream of mist as she hummed a slow tune to herself. The girl's hands trembled at her sides, and her teeth began to chatter, but still she kept humming and standing in that cold, desolate lane. Finally, I assembled my courage and stepped out into the downpour. The girl did not look at me as I made my way towards her, and even when I came to a stop in front of her, she kept her eyes fixed ahead, unseeing. “Valyna,” I said. Her name was so soft and innocent. It felt like a breeze on my tongue. “Has your father come back yet?” Her wet locks whipped around her face as she shook her head. My eyes began to prickle with tears of sympathy, and I turned my face away in embarassement. I knew she was crying too, and I didn't want her to look into my eyes and see the truth. She could never know what I had done to her life. I was such a coward. Anyone else would have looked her in the face and told her everything. Such pain in those deep blue eyes! It was too much to bear. I couldn't say anything. Not after what I'd done.

THREE; photographs & drawings
Here are some photos and a few drawings. Most of the photos have been edited with a program called Picnik, which you may or may not have heard of. It's free at picnik.com, and it's not really that bad, though I do wish I had something like Photoshop. :[ Oh well. Please take a look.
I.Standing Guard II.Rule of Thumb [I had nothing else to do, so I wrote a bunch of words on my hand and voilà.] III.Rest in Peace IV.Heavenly Fire [clouds highlighted by a fiery sunset.] V.Believe [flying a kite on a rocky beach.]
